Happy Birthday Kolby!

Yesterday my baby girl turned 8. It's hard to believe she could be so old! We had a fun day. Actually the festivities started Friday when we took cupcakes for her class at school. Friday afternoon her Grandma came. Saturday we took cupcakes for her basketball team to the game. Then Saturday at 5:00 we had the big surprise bowling party! It was a great day! Here are some pictures.
The Lady Lions!
Kolby and cousin Sam.
After the game with Grandma!
The Bowling Ball Cake I made Saturday morning.
Surprise!!!
Bowlarama!
The little cousins bowling together...These four were quite fun to watch!

Hope you all had a great weekend too!

P.S. Rhett started running fever last night and has some flu-like symptoms..... We'll be heading to the doctor in the AM! Is it bad that I am praying for something easily diagnosed and treated like strep????

Looks like a fun birthday! If you can, post the details on how you made it a surprise.

Hope Rhett feels better. I'm always hoping it's something easily diagnosable (is that a word?!?) I hate the word, "viral!"

Looks like you came up with a really fun party! I'm with Jacinda--how did you make it surprise?

And, hope Rhett feels better soon, too--Elizabeth said a couple of hers were down today--are ya'll sharing something down there?

Kolby knew her grandparents and cousins were meeting us to go bowling at 5 for her birthday. She watched me make the cake and everything, but just thought it was going to be a small family party. I sent some of Kolby's favorite friends invitations addressed to their Moms and wrote a note asking the Mom's not to tell their girls until Friday after school. So none of the girls knew. One girl only found out as she got in the car to come. It was sorta a surprise for them all!

I left the house early Saturday afternoon saying I had to go pay a bill at the mall by 5 and would meet them at the bowling alley. All the girls and I were there by 10 till and had it all set up. It was so cute to see ten girls so excited about surprising Kolby. They were all ready to burst by the time she got there! The girls hid behind some lockers and jumped out and yelled surprise right as Kolby walked up. Kolby just started hugging each one and jumped for glee at each face. It was really sweet. She had no idea!

Later she thanked me for not making her wait for a "real" party. She is still chattering away about it. She was also amazed that I was able to make treat bags, send invitations, and call all the Moms without her knowing. It was a very good party and completely worth all the secrets and effort! :)
