Evacuating

This picture should auto matically update with the storms progress.
I talked to some friends from Houston who are busy packing and trying to secure their houses so they can get out of the area before the storm hits. How stressful to try to put your family and your most valued possessions in a car and drive away not knowing when or what you will come back to! Hoping some of them end up here with us to ride the storm out. Glad to know they are willing and able to leave because they know protecting their family is the most important thing.

May God bless all the residents of the coast as they ready to get out of the storms path! I hope this hurricane season is a freak incident that will not be repeated! Dear Lord, please muffle this growing storm and rescue those who cry out to you!

I hope all is OK on the coast. Bryon's parents and sister live just north of Houston. I am looking forward to a little tropical storm action around here. I love rainy weekends!

You might want to check with them...my friends in Kingwood are leaving for fear of the winds and loss of eletricity. Schools are closed as far as Spring. I love rain too... but I hate to think of all those people loosing so much.

I was just listening to Sean Hannity who said that Rita is now a Cat 5 storm. He even said "People in Austin, Waco, and Dallas, prepare for 90 mile per hour winds."

Not so excited about the rain this weekend now. My poor son heard the news and said, "But you promised that we would never have a hurricane here!" I had to explain that it wouldn't be a hurricane when it came here. Still, it is hard to believe.

This storm looks so NASTY! We need to all be in prayer for it to weaken.

Praying for you all in Texas.

My friends left their house in Houston at 1:30 this morning and finally arrives at our house a little after 8AM. They were very lucky. As I type my friends Mom and Dad are sitting on I-10 trying to get out of town. They have moved two milees in the last 45 minutes. We have other friends who tried to leave but after being in bumper to bumper traffic for 6 hours with three kids a 36 week pregnant friend and their dogs only moving 16 miles...they turned around and went home to ride out the storm. I just pray this storm does not catch thousands of people on the roads! 450,000 were asked to evacuate New Orleans area before Katrina. 6 million pepole were encouraged to evacuate from the Texas coast to ready for Rita. Is it any wonder the roads are clogged and people can not get out? God speed gulf coast evacuees!

Do you think 5 years from now we will see a lot of little girls named 'Katrina' and 'Rita' in school?

I hope & pray everyone is OK down there & that the levee's in N.O. hold up! My crazy brother is supposed to be on a plane from Chicago TO Austin, TX to play in an outdoor concert there. I'm sure that's not possible, but I don't know what's going & he's crazy anyway.

You are talking about the Austin City Limits concert! It is huge. There are bands from all over the country eho compete to be there. Cold Play is the headliner I believe. My sister had tickets but sold them. It may go on, but they may get rained on. Besides that Austin is well out of the path predicted for this storm now.
Anyone wanting to watch Rita on a reliable station can watch KHOUs live coverage out of Houston through yahoo on the inet. Just google KHOU for the website.
